Parrtjima - A Festival in Light in Alice Springs

Parrtjima - A Festival in Light is a free, Aboriginal-led light festival held each April against the Tjoritja/MacDonnell Ranges outside Alice Springs. Over ten nights, large-scale light installations shaped by First Nations artists and cultural custodians are projected across the desert landscape, alongside live music, dance, talks, workshops and a market, all guided by Arrernte language and storytelling on Country.

Parrtjima takes its name from an Arrernte word that means lighting up in two senses at once, both the literal illumination of an object and the act of shedding light on a subject, and that double meaning sits at the centre of everything the festival does.
