Grafenegg Festival in Grafenegg
The Grafenegg Festival is an orchestral music festival held on the grounds of Grafenegg Castle near Vienna, founded in 2007 by pianist Rudolf Buchbinder. Its centerpiece is the Wolkenturm, a cloud-shaped open-air amphitheatre seating around 2,000, complemented by the indoor Auditorium Grafenegg and the historic Reitschule chamber-music hall, with programming running from mid-August into early September and drawing 40,000 to 50,000 visitors.
Pianist Rudolf Buchbinder founded the Grafenegg Festival in 2007 as artistic director, choosing the grounds of Grafenegg Castle, a neo-Gothic estate about 60 kilometers northwest of Vienna, as the site for a new outdoor orchestral venue.
