The story

Altitude Comedy Festival in Mayrhofen

A stand-up comedy festival staged inside the ski resort of Mayrhofen each spring, pairing daytime skiing with around fifteen comedy shows over roughly a week across an après-ski lounge, a theatre and a late-night venue, featuring a touring lineup of largely UK and Irish comedians.

Two touring stand-up comedians, Andrew Maxwell and Marcus Brigstocke, founded a ski-resort comedy festival in 2007 that has since grown into a week-long program of around fifteen separate shows staged across an après-ski lounge, a converted theatre and a late-night club room in Mayrhofen.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

The festival was founded by two working touring comedians rather than a resort marketing team, and splits its roughly fifteen shows across three distinct formats and venues — après-ski shows, theatre gala performances and later-night club sets — over one week

02

The mystery stays covered

It has won industry recognition including a Best Overseas Festival award and multiple UK and European festival award nominations

03

The city starts moving

Held in the final weeks of the ski season, it also gives Mayrhofen a way to extend its tourist draw into a typically quieter shoulder period on the slopes
