Snowbombing in Mayrhofen
Snowbombing is a ski-and-music festival held each spring in Mayrhofen, in Austria's Zillertal valley, running annually at this location since 2005 though the event itself began in 2000 at a French resort. Over roughly six days, daytime skiing and snowboarding gives way to evening concerts and parties in unusual settings including an igloo village, forest clearing and alpine farmstead, with a lineup spanning electronic, indie and rock acts.
Snowbombing arrived in Mayrhofen in 2005, though its roots go back to 2000, when English promoters trading as Outgoing Ltd, based in Manchester, launched the event as an apres-ski nightclub promotion at the French resort of Risoul, built around DJ sets and electronic dance music.
