Konfrontationen is a free jazz and improvised music festival held every July in the Burgenland village of Nickelsdorf, grown from concerts Hans Falb began at his family's guesthouse in 1976 into an annually recurring festival since 1980. Decades of programming by the Jazzgalerie Nickelsdorf have hosted figures from Cecil Taylor and Peter Broetzmann to Alexander von Schlippenbach alongside film, art, and theater.

The Konfrontationen festival grew out of a guesthouse in the small Burgenland village of Nickelsdorf, right by the Hungarian border, where Hans Falb began organizing concerts in November 1976 after taking over his family's inn.
