Vienna City Marathon in Vienna

The Vienna City Marathon began on 25 March 1984 with 794 runners, launched through Vienna Tourism sponsorship explicitly modeled on Berlin's city marathon, and has grown into Austria's largest road running event, with peak editions drawing nearly 33,000 participants from over a hundred countries. Held each April, the route follows the Danube, the Prater, and the grand Ringstrasse to a finish near Heldenplatz.
