Baku Open International Chess Festival in Baku
Baku Open International Chess Festival fills Crystal Hall with open Swiss tournaments each spring, letting amateur players and titled grandmasters compete under the same roof. Run by Azerbaijan's Chess Federation and Ministry of Youth and Sports across three rating groups, it draws entrants from a dozen-plus countries. Visitors without a board of their own can still walk the hall, follow pairing sheets, and watch a tournament floor in full swing.
Baku Open International Chess Festival turns Crystal Hall, an arena usually booked for concerts and sports, into a working floor of chess boards for about ten days each spring.
