Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku
Formula 1's Baku street race runs through central Baku on a circuit built in 2016, famous for the calendar's longest straight and its narrowest corner past the Old City walls. Its bumpy, wall-lined layout has produced some of the sport's least predictable late-race incidents. The track was designed by Hermann Tilke, the architect behind most modern Formula 1 street circuits.
The Baku City Circuit was built for Formula 1 in 2016 and immediately became known for two extremes: the longest flat-out straight on the calendar, a 2.2-kilometre run along the Caspian waterfront, and the narrowest corner in the sport, a gap just 7.6 metres wide at Turn 8 where cars slow from top speed to a crawl within a few hundred metres.
