Poush Mela Bangladesh in Dhaka/Rural Bangladesh
Poush Mela is not one event but a rural Bangladeshi tradition: village fairs held informally across the country during the Poush month, once the winter rice harvest is in, mixing produce and craft stalls with folk music and pithas made from fresh date jaggery. There is no fixed venue or single organizer to plan a trip around.
Farmers set up bamboo-pole stalls in open paddy fields once the aman rice harvest is in and the Bengali month of Poush begins, and the resulting village fair has no single address, because thousands of villages across Bangladesh hold their own version at roughly the same time.
