Bishu Festival in Khagrachhari
Bishu, also spelled Baisu or Boisuk, is the Tripura community's version of the Chittagong Hill Tracts new year, marked in Khagrachhari across three days: Hari Baisu (house cleaning), Boisuma (a public procession and Gariya dance), and Baisu Katal (a quieter new year day of family visits).
In Khagrachhari, the Tripura community opens its three-day Baisu, often spelled Bishu or Boisuk locally, with Hari Baisu, a day devoted to cleaning homes, discarding old belongings and preparing for the year's turn before a public procession takes over the streets.
