Waterman Festival Barbados in Barbados beaches
The Waterman Festival, built around Barbadian windsurfing pioneer Brian Talma, gathers windsurfing, stand-up paddleboarding and surfing on a single Barbados beach over several days. It mixes competitive heats with open sessions, giving spectators a close-up, informal view of board sports on a beach that doubles as an ordinary swimming spot.
The Waterman Festival grew out of the work of Brian Talma, a Barbadian windsurfing pioneer and one of the sport's early Caribbean competitors, who built the event around the idea that a strong waterman should be competent across several ocean disciplines rather than specialized in just one.
