Sfinks Mixed in Boechout
A free, multi-day world music festival in the village of Boechout that grew out of a 1970s folk festival and has booked global artists including Youssou N Dour and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Alongside the main stages, the event runs parades, DJ sets, installations and a dedicated Kidz Village for younger children, all without a ticket gate.
Sfinks began in 1975 as a folk festival built around acts like the Irish group Clannad, and only after 1982 did it turn gradually toward the world music program it is known for today, eventually hosting figures such as Youssou N Dour, Cheb Khaled and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan in the village of Boechout.
