Graspop Metal Meeting is Belgium's dedicated heavy metal festival, held annually in the farm town of Dessel since 1996 after a rebrand from an earlier general rock festival. Camping is central to the experience, with most of the roughly 95,000 attendees staying on-site in tents for the genre-focused, subculture-heavy weekend.

The festival now known for four days of uninterrupted heavy metal in a Flemish farm town did not start as a metal event at all: through the mid-1990s it operated as a family-oriented rock festival whose falling attendance forced its organizers to rebrand entirely, pairing with Bob Schoenmaekers, owner of a nearby metal club who had been running his own smaller 'Midsummer Metal Meeting,' to relaunch the event under the Graspop name in 1996.
