Women's Cross Country Cycling Classic in Belize City to Cayo

The Women's Cross Country Cycling Classic began around 1990, when Camille Solis and a small group of Belizean women broke a decades-long men-only tradition on the Belize City to Cayo route. Now run annually by the Cycling Federation of Belize on a shortened course, often starting from Orange Walk Town, it remains a smaller-field but seriously contested companion to the men's Holy Saturday Classic.

Belize's premier cycling event, the Holy Saturday Cross Country Classic, ran as a men-only race for over sixty years before Camille Solis and a handful of other Belizean women broke that barrier by racing in the country's first Women's Cross Country Cycling Classic around 1990, at the urging of local coach and cycling mentor Stans Bowman.
