Entrada Folklorica 16 de Julio in El Alto
The Entrada Folklorica 16 de Julio is one of the largest folkloric parades in the La Paz department, filling El Alto's 16 de Julio zone with around 60 dance fraternities honoring the Virgen del Carmen. The 2026 edition took place July 15, opening with a Pachamama ceremony before dancers moved through El Alto's main streets, an event estimated to move over 700 million bolivianos through bands, costumes, embroidery and vendors.
Each July, the 16 de Julio zone of El Alto turns into one of the largest stages for folkloric dance in the La Paz department, as the Entrada Folklorica 16 de Julio brings roughly 60 dance fraternities through its streets in honor of the Virgen del Carmen.
