Festival del Oso Andino in La Paz/Sucre
The Festival del Oso Andino is a one-day conservation showcase organized by Bolivia's national protected-areas service around the jucumari, the Andean or spectacled bear, South America's only bear species. Centered on La Paz's Museo Nacional de Historia Natural with parallel Sucre programming, it mixes ranger-led talks, biology displays and family activities aimed at explaining why the bear, now Vulnerable in Bolivia, matters to forest ecosystems.
Each February, Bolivia's national protected-areas service, SERNAP, turns a week of conservation outreach into a public festival built around the jucumari, the Andean or spectacled bear and South America's only bear species.
