Sarajevo Winter International Festival in Sarajevo
Sarajevo Winter International Festival is a months-long, multi-venue arts season founded in 1984 alongside the city's Winter Olympics, spanning theatre, music, visual arts, literature and film through February and March. Its distinguishing feature is history: performances continued through the 1990s siege, when audiences risked sniper fire to attend. Expect a spread program across many venues rather than one central show or headline act.
Sarajevo Winter International Festival started in December 1984, built by cultural organizer Ibrahim Spahic as a companion program to the Winter Olympics the city had just hosted.
