Kuru Dance Festival in D'Kar

Kuru Dance Festival brings San (Basarwa) communities from across southern Africa to D'Kar, a small Ghanzi District village, for several days of trance dance, traditional music and storytelling organized by the Kuru Family of Organisations. It is one of the few public events built specifically around San cultural expression, drawing dance troupes from Botswana, Namibia and South Africa to perform healing dances and other traditions that are rarely staged for outside audiences.

D'Kar is a small settlement in Botswana's Ghanzi District, home to the Kuru Family of Organisations, a group founded by and for San (Basarwa) communities that runs craft cooperatives, an art project and cultural programs supporting San livelihoods and heritage.
