Toyota 1000 Desert Race in Jwaneng/Selebi-Phikwe/rotating
Toyota 1000 Desert Race is one of southern Africa's most prestigious cross-country motor rallies, sending cars, bikes and quads over roughly 1,000 kilometres of Kalahari bush and desert terrain across two days. Running since the late 1990s, the race rotates its host town between Botswana mining centers such as Jwaneng and Selebi-Phikwe, drawing regional and international competitors alongside a strong following of local motorsport spectators.
Toyota 1000 Desert Race grew out of Botswana's motorsport scene in the late 1990s into one of the most established cross-country rallies in the region, known locally simply as the 1000 Desert Race.
