International Chamber Music Festival Plovdiv

Founded in 1964 and running every year since except for a pandemic-era gap, Plovdiv's International Chamber Music Festival is Europe's oldest continuously operating chamber music event. Concerts are staged inside Old Plovdiv's historic architectural complex, using restored Revival-period houses and museum halls rather than a conventional concert hall, and the modern program spans roughly a month between May and June, mixing young Bulgarian musicians with international touring ensembles.

The Ethnographic Museum inside Plovdiv's Old Town hosted twelve days of concerts in June 1964 that would grow into Europe's oldest continuously running chamber music festival, founded by a group of music enthusiasts including Vladimir Avramov, Alexandar Neynski, Dobrin Petkov and Marko Mesholam with backing from Plovdiv Municipality and the Bulgarian Concert Agency.
