The story

One Dance Festival in Plovdiv

One Dance Festival, running since 2008 and organized by the ONE Foundation for Culture and Arts, is Bulgaria's largest platform for contemporary dance, mixing an indoor program of premieres and international co-productions with a free open-air arm, One Dance City, built around hip-hop, breakdance and urban dance forms. Past programming has featured internationally recognized choreographers including Greece's Euripides Laskaridis.

Breakdancers and hip-hop crews take over a Plovdiv city-centre square for One Dance City, the free outdoor arm of a contemporary dance festival that has been inviting international choreographers to Bulgaria since 2008.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

The festival's two-tier structure is its defining feature: a serious indoor contemporary dance program featuring international premieres and co-productions, including work by internationally recognized figures such as Euripides Laskaridis, runs alongside a completely free outdoor strand, One Dance City, aimed at general audiences through hip-hop, electro and breakdance performance and classes

02

The mystery stays covered

Few festivals of this scale pair experimental indoor programming this directly with a genuinely open, family-friendly public arm

03

The city starts moving

Having run continuously since 2008, it has also built enough continuity to attract touring international companies rather than relying solely on local talent
