Festival Bouls Lebraaga in Boulsa
A first-edition festival in Boulsa built around Lebraaga, the canton's traditional New Year allegiance ceremony where customary chiefs pay tribute to the Baloum Naaba. Organized by the Association Preservons notre culture, the program adds a communal meal with internally displaced families, a local food exhibition and artistic performances to the older courtyard ceremony, aiming at social cohesion and support for host communities during the region's displacement crisis.
In the courtyard of the canton chief of Boulsa, customary leaders from across Namentenga still gather each year to pledge allegiance and offer New Year wishes to their chief, a tribute called Lebraaga that predates any organized festival.
