Festival Gulmu ma fierte in Ouagadougou
Festival Gulmu ma fierte, held on the Newton grounds in Ouagadougou, celebrates the Gulmancema (Gourmantche) community through artistic performances, a craft exhibition, and a rue marchande of local food across roughly 72 hours. Its first edition, organized by Georgette Lankoande (Haro), included a parente a plaisanterie joking-kinship performance from the Yadega community, framing the festival around cultural diversity as a foundation for social cohesion.
On the Newton grounds in Ouagadougou, a delegation from the Yadega community performed its role in parente a plaisanterie, the joking-kinship tradition that Burkinabe communities use to defuse tension between groups, as part of the first Festival Gulmu ma fierte.
