Angkor Sankranta in Siem Reap/Angkor

Angkor Sankranta is Siem Reap's temple-set version of Khmer New Year, staged each mid-April across roughly six locations including Angkor Wat's grounds, the Royal Gardens, and the riverside. First organized in 2013, it has grown into a large public festival of classical dance, folk games, floating lanterns, and a produce fair, distinct from the quieter home-and-pagoda customs of the national holiday it shares its dates with.

Angkor Sankranta is Siem Reap's dedicated staging of Khmer New Year, built around the ancient temple complex rather than home villages, and it has grown since its first organized edition in 2013 from a modest local gathering into one of Cambodia's largest tourism showcases.
