Stung Treng River Festival in Stung Treng

In March 2017, Stung Treng became the third stop on Cambodia's touring, Ministry of Tourism-run River Festival, a rotating civic event pairing sports, boat races, and eco-tourism promotion with a different Mekong-side province each year. The province's turn has not been repeated since, and its river-tourism appeal today leans more on the nearby Ramsar wetland site and remote waterfalls than on this one documented festival edition.

Stung Treng town sits at the confluence of the Mekong and Sekong rivers, close to Cambodia's border with Laos, and in March 2017 it hosted the third edition of the country's touring River Festival, a three-day event organized by the Ministry of Tourism that moves to a different Mekong-region province each year.
