Medumba Festival in Bangangte

Bangangte, capital of Cameroon's Nde department, hosts FESTAC Medumba, a biennial two-week festival established in 1995 to promote the Medumba language, gathering the fourteen main villages of the department for parades, competitions, and displays of Bamileke heritage arts and crafts, drawing tens of thousands of visitors including diaspora families each July.

In 1995, cultural leaders in Bangangte founded the Kum Ntsi Medumba association with a specific mission: to keep the Medumba language, spoken across the fourteen main villages of Cameroon's Nde department, from fading under the pressure of French-language schooling and urban migration.
