Mount Cameroon Race of Hope in Buea

Mount Cameroon Race of Hope sends runners from Molyko Stadium in Buea up the flanks of an active volcano and back down the same route, roughly 40 kilometres and over 2,000 vertical metres in one day. Long sponsored as the Guinness Mount Cameroon Race, it has run since the 1970s and produced local legends such as seven-time women's champion Sarah Liengu Etonge.

Runners who summit Mount Cameroon during the Race of Hope do not get to stop there: the route doubles back down the same steep volcanic track, so the finish line at Molyko Stadium in Buea is also the start line, roughly 38 to 42 kilometres and well over 2,000 metres of vertical gain later.
