Mankon Cultural Festival in Mankon/Bamenda
The Mankon Cultural Festival showcases the traditions of the Mankon people, one of the largest Grassfields chiefdoms making up Bamenda in Cameroon's Northwest Region, under the authority of the Fon of Mankon. The event brings palace regalia, masked dances, and royal music into public view, reaffirming Mankon identity within the wider Bamenda urban area.
Before Bamenda grew into the capital of Cameroon's Northwest Region, Mankon was already an established Grassfields chiefdom, formed from an amalgamation of smaller communities under a Fon whose palace still anchors the area today.
