Edmonton International Street Performers Festival turns Old Strathcona's Whyte Avenue district into an open-air circuit of circle shows each July, where jugglers, acrobats, comedians and magicians from around the world perform for whatever the crowd chooses to put in the hat afterward. Founded in 1985, it is one of the longest continuously running busking festivals anywhere, built entirely around live, unamplified street performance rather than staged concert acts.
