Silver Skate Festival in Edmonton
Rooted in Dutch skating traditions and running since 1991, Silver Skate Festival fills Hawrelak Park, or its temporary relocation site during park revitalization, with free outdoor skating, snow and fire sculptures each February. It is Edmonton's longest continuously running winter festival. Expect a winter triathlon, family ski events, sledge hockey demonstrations, a folk trail and Indigenous storytelling programming.
Silver Skate Festival transforms Hawrelak Park into Edmonton's largest coordinated outdoor winter celebration each February, centered on free public ice skating alongside snow and fire sculpture displays, live music, and a heritage village exploring Indigenous histories and traditions.
