Festival du Voyageur in Winnipeg

Festival du Voyageur transforms Winnipeg's French Quarter into a heated-tent winter park each February, celebrating the city's fur-trade and French-Canadian Metis heritage through snow sculpture competitions, fiddle and jigging performances, and maple taffy poured onto snow. Running since 1970, it has grown into the largest winter festival in Western Canada, drawing crowds into Voyageur Park and the reconstructed Fort Gibraltar despite temperatures that regularly sit well below freezing.
