SnowKing's Winter Festival builds a temporary castle entirely from snow and ice on frozen Yellowknife Bay each winter, hosting concerts, movie nights, and family programming inside its walls. Running since 1996, the festival depends on the Northwest Territories' extreme cold to hold the structure together, giving it a genuinely northern character built directly on the frozen lake.

Yellowknife Bay freezes thick enough each winter to support a temporary castle built entirely from snow and ice, and since 1996 SnowKing's Winter Festival has used that frozen surface as the foundation for one of the most distinctive winter events in the Northwest Territories.
