Fiesta Costumbrista del Huaso de Olmue in Olmue
The Festival del Huaso de Olmue is Chile's most important national folk-music song competition, first held in 1970 at Parque El Patagual in the Valparaiso region. Broadcast nationally on television since 1979 and staged each January, it celebrates the huaso, Chile's traditional horseman, through folk song, payador improvisation, equestrian skill contests and huaso fashion.
Each January, Parque El Patagual in Olmue, in Chile's Valparaiso region, hosts the Festival del Huaso de Olmue, widely regarded as the country's most important national folk-music song competition.
