Dunhuang Silk Road International Cultural Expo in Dunhuang
China's national-level cultural exchange expo for countries in the Belt and Road Initiative, held annually each September in Dunhuang, Gansu, since its first edition in September 2016. That inaugural expo drew 95 delegations from 85 countries and displayed roughly 8,500 exhibits spanning cultural relics, fine art and intangible heritage crafts, built around a high-level conference and forums on cultural cooperation.
Dunhuang's cultural expo exists because of geography as much as history: the city sits at a historic crossing point of the Silk Road, and China chose it specifically to host the country's only national-level expo dedicated to cultural exchange among nations involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
