On Jinji Lake in Suzhou Industrial Park, dozens of local and international teams race twelve- and twenty-two-person dragon boats over a fixed 300-metre course each Dragon Boat Festival, set against a modern business-district skyline rather than a historic canal, drawing large crowds to the Moonlight Wharf waterfront.

Eighty-five teams and roughly 1,800 paddlers lined up for a recent edition of this race at Moonlight Wharf on Jinji Lake, inside Suzhou Industrial Park, in a programme that has expanded steadily since the race began in 2010 under the banner Shared Joy in Jiangsu.
