Tianjin Juilliard Music Festival in Tianjin
Tianjin Juilliard School's music festivals fill the school's Diller Scofidio and Renfro-designed Binhai New Area campus, whose three purpose-built venues include a 690-seat concert hall and a 225-seat black-box theatre, with programming ranging from an inaugural piano festival to a spring festival developed jointly with Tianjin's Xinghai Concert Hall.
Diller Scofidio and Renfro, the architecture firm responsible for the 2009 expansion of Juilliard's own New York campus, designed the Tianjin Juilliard School's Binhai New Area building, giving this festival's home venue a direct architectural lineage back to the original Juilliard campus rather than a generic concert-hall design.
