Wuqiao International Circus Festival, founded in 1987 in a Hebei county long associated with Chinese acrobatic tradition, ranks among the world's three major circus competitions alongside Monte Carlo and Paris, awarding Golden, Silver and Bronze Lion prizes to troupes from dozens of countries competing in aerial, trapeze, teeterboard and other acrobatic disciplines.
