Wuyuan Rapeseed Flower Festival in Wuyuan
Wuyuan County in northeastern Jiangxi turns bright yellow each spring when its terraced rapeseed fields bloom, typically from early to late March, drawing large numbers of domestic and international visitors to a landscape often marketed as among the most beautiful countryside in China. The rapeseed flower festival pairs the blooming fields with tours of Wuyuan's well-preserved Huizhou-style villages, including Jiangling, Sixi and Likeng.
Rapeseed is grown across much of China primarily for its oil, a practical winter cover crop that happens to explode into brilliant yellow blossom each spring, but few places have turned that agricultural cycle into a tourism identity as successfully as Wuyuan.
