Wuzhen Theatre Festival in Wuzhen

Wuzhen Theatre Festival, first staged in 2013 and co-founded by theatre figures Stan Lai, Chen Xianghong, Meng Jinghui and Huang Lei, fills the historic water town of Wuzhen with invited productions, a youth-director competition, an outdoor carnival spilling into the town's canals and bridges, and public dialogues among theatre practitioners.

Four figures from Chinese theatre, Stan Lai, Chen Xianghong, Meng Jinghui and Huang Lei, co-founded this festival after Huang Lei first conceived the idea in 2007, bringing it to its first staging on May 9, 2013, in the water town of Wuzhen, Zhejiang.
