Zhangjiajie International Wingsuit Flying Festival in Zhangjiajie
Tianmen Mountain near Zhangjiajie has hosted the World Wingsuit League's Wingsuit Flying World Championship since 2012, with athletes launching from Yuhu Peak at 1,458 metres to race a 1.3-kilometre aerial course or dive at over 200 kilometres an hour through the airspace framed by Tianmen Cave's natural rock arch toward a suspended target.
Athletes leaping from a cliff edge 1,458 metres up and hitting speeds beyond 200 kilometres an hour before diving toward a target the size of a small room is the spectacle at the heart of the Wingsuit Flying World Championship, staged at Tianmen Mountain near Zhangjiajie in Hunan province, the permanent home of the World Wingsuit League's marquee event since its first edition in 2012.
