Ibero-American Theater Festival of Bogota in Bogota

Founded in 1988 by actress Fanny Mikey and Teatro Mayor director Ramiro Osorio to mark Bogota's 450th anniversary, the Ibero-American Theater Festival stages hundreds of productions across more than one hundred city venues every two years, combining international and Colombian companies and drawing the nickname 'World Capital of Theater' for the host city.

Fanny Mikey, an actress and businesswoman, teamed with Teatro Mayor director Ramiro Osorio in 1988 to build what has grown into one of the largest performing arts gatherings in the world: the Ibero-American Theater Festival of Bogota, created to mark 450 years since the Colombian capital's founding and staged biennially, every two years, ever since.
