Amazonas Colonies Festival in Leticia
Held each 30 June and known locally as the Fiesta Sanpedrina, Leticia's colonies festival gathers migrant-community associations - huilense, tolimense, santandereana, costena, paisa and llanera colonias among them - for a reina de colonias pageant, carriage parade and regional food displays. It showcases the regional diversity of Colombians who have settled in this Amazonian border city, distinct from the city's separate international Festival de la Confraternidad Amazonica.
Leticia's colonies festival, known locally as the Fiesta Sanpedrina, runs each year on 30 June and is organised around Colombia's tradition of regional colonias - associations of migrants from other parts of the country who have settled in a given city and maintain their home region's identity within it.
