Festival de Cimarronas Heredia in Heredia/Santo Domingo

Festival de Cimarronas Heredia is Costa Rica's licensed chapter of the international Festival HONK street-band movement, launched in Santo Domingo de Heredia with eight participating cimarrona groups drawn from across the country, staged as a dedicated showcase of the bands themselves rather than as accompaniment to a masquerade or religious feast.

Festival de Cimarronas Heredia began life as Costa Rica's own licensed chapter of Festival HONK, the international gathering of activist street bands, when Cimarrona La Original Domingueña obtained the franchise's license and staged a first edition in Santo Domingo de Heredia on September 22 with eight participating groups.
