FEMUA - Festival des Musiques Urbaines d'Anoumabo in Abidjan and Dimbokro
FEMUA, the Festival des Musiques Urbaines d'Anoumabo, is a major Ivorian urban music festival founded in 2008 by Magic System singer A'Salfo in his home Abidjan neighborhood. Each edition runs six days in spring, spanning Abidjan and Dimbokro with coupe-decale, zouglou, hip-hop and other West African popular music alongside campaigns tied to social causes. Evening concerts draw large crowds to outdoor festival grounds.
FEMUA, the Festival des Musiques Urbaines d'Anoumabo, began in 2008 when Ivorian singer A'Salfo of the group Magic System brought a music festival to Anoumabo, the working-class Abidjan neighborhood where he grew up, turning a week each spring into one of West Africa's biggest urban music gatherings.
