Hvar Summer Festival in Hvar

Held continuously since 1961, Hvar Summer Festival is one of the Adriatic's oldest surviving cultural festivals, staging music, theatre and dance across the town's historic sites, the Franciscan monastery, Fortica fortress and Veneranda stage, from soon after Easter through mid-September each season. Programming leans heavily on Dalmatian klapa singing alongside theatre and dance performances.

Hvar Summer Festival has run continuously since 1961, making it one of the oldest surviving cultural festivals on the Adriatic islands, and its longevity is tied directly to the town's historic architecture: performances take place inside the Franciscan monastery, at Hanibal Lucic's Renaissance-era summer residence, on the Veneranda open-air stage, inside the Fortica fortress above the town, and in the square before the Cathedral of St.
