The story

Istria 100 by UTMB in Istria region

Istria 100 by UTMB, launched in 2013 with just 237 runners, has grown into a UTMB World Series ultra-trail race drawing over two thousand competitors from more than sixty countries, with routes from Labin, Buzet, Motovun and Groznjan converging on a finish in Umag. It is now among Croatia's largest organized trail running events.

Istria 100 by UTMB began in 2013 as a modest trail running event with only 237 competitors, designed for a small group of dedicated ultra-runners rather than a mass-participation race.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

The race offers a tiered distance structure starting from four different Istrian towns, from a 168 kilometre route beginning in Labin down to a 21 kilometre route from Groznjan, letting elite ultra-runners and more recreational trail runners compete within the same UTMB-affiliated event

02

The mystery stays covered

Its inclusion in the roughly thirty-five race UTMB World Series ties a once-obscure regional trail run directly into a global qualifying system centered on the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc championship in Chamonix
