Founded in 2000 with 114 boats, Fiumanka is Rijeka's free, no-entry-fee sailing regatta, now drawing more than 150 crews and roughly a thousand sailors each June. Related programs include a student regatta, a children's Paper Fiumanka, and sea-cleaning and educational activities alongside the main race.

Fiumanka began in 2000, when 114 sailboats gathered in the waters off Rijeka for what organizers designed from the outset as a free, no-entry-fee regatta open to essentially anyone with a boat and sail, a deliberately low-barrier model summed up in the event's own motto, roughly translating to you have a boat, you have a sail, sign in.
