The story

Zagreb Classic in Zagreb

Zagreb Classic, launched in 2016, brings free open-air concerts to King Tomislav Square each summer, anchored by the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra and joined by the city's other major resident orchestras, with programming spanning classical music, opera, musicals, jazz and tango. The square sits directly facing Zagreb's main railway station.

Zagreb Classic held its first edition in 2016 and has since grown into one of the city's most recognizable recurring cultural events, built around free open-air concerts staged each summer on King Tomislav Square, one of Zagreb's central green spaces facing the main railway station.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

All performances are free and bring together essentially every major resident orchestral, choral and theatre ensemble in Zagreb within one outdoor festival, a level of institutional overlap not replicated by any other single music event in the city's calendar

02

The mystery stays covered

Programming deliberately extends beyond strictly classical repertoire into opera galas, staged musicals, jazz and tango, a breadth organizers use to draw audiences who might not otherwise attend a purely classical concert series
