Festival Camagua Folk Dance

Born during the pandemic as a virtual dance exchange, the Camagua Folk Dance Festival became a full in-person event in Camaguey pairing an international non-competitive folk dance festival, drawing duos from fifteen or more countries, with a parallel national Cuban showcase and a dedicated artistic education strand. Theoretical debate sessions and international master classes run alongside performances at the Ignacio Agramonte House of Culture.

The Camagua Folk Dance Festival began as a workaround: during the pandemic, when in-person gatherings were impossible, Camaguey's folk dance community built a virtual festival to keep cultural exchange alive, and rather than dropping the idea once restrictions lifted, they carried it into a full in-person event that by its fifth edition was hosting dance couples from fifteen countries outside Cuba alongside domestic participants.
