Parrandas de Camajuani in Camajuani

Camajuani's parrandas, first held in January 1894 following the model of the older Parrandas de Remedios dating to 1820, pit La Loma, symbolized by a chivo, against La Cana da, symbolized by a sapo, each March in a celebration of dances, pyrotechnics, elaborate floats and handmade costumes judged by popular applause rather than a formal panel.

Camajuani held its first parrandas in January 1894, adopting the tradition after residents had already been drawing on the model of the nearby Parrandas de Remedios, Cuba's oldest such celebration, dating to 1820, since around 1890.
